The Ordos municipal government signed a strategic agreement with SINOPEC North China Petroleum and Gas Co in Ordos city – in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on June 19 – to develop energy resources, according to local officials.
Under the agreement, the two sides will deepen their cooperation on the development and utilization of natural gas and unconventional oil and gas resources.
At the signing ceremony, the mayor of Ordos pointed out that his city was accelerating its exploration of new high-quality development paths that are oriented towards environmental priorities and green development.
He expressed his hopes that the two sides would establish a fruitful long-term working relationship.
With the goal of protecting the environment, the two sides aim to further expand the scale of conventional natural gas development.
They also aim to work together to expand the exploration and development of unconventional oil and gas resources and also develop energy sources including wind power and solar power.
Officials said they should also jointly build a comprehensive energy development and utilization demonstration zone for national oil and gas resources and new energy.
Lyu Xinhua, general manager of SINOPEC North China Petroleum and Gas Co, echoed Ordos mayor’s proposals.
Lyu said the company would prioritize guaranteeing the gas demands of Ordos, expand areas of cooperation and make new and greater contributions to ensuring national energy security and local economic developments.
