A feasibility report on a new general-purpose airport construction project in Uxin Banner in Ordos, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was approved by experts at a meeting held in Beijing on Nov 13.

According to Ordos officials, the planning level of the Uxin Banner airport is Class-A general airport.

Its main uses include short-distance tourism, transportation, forest protection, emergency rescues, aviation schools and other navigation operations fields.

At the report review, the preliminary preparations for the project were presented in detail.

Representatives from relevant departments and experts listened to the briefing on the main design, flight program design and flight performance analysis of the project.

The meeting reviewed the relevant written materials and put forward suggestions from the perspective of improving the feasibility report and building infrastructure.

Officials said the construction of Uxin Banner general-purpose airport was of great significance to expand the opening up of the banner and promote the development of the regional tourism industry.

They said the relevant departments will now further optimize, supplement and modify the report according to the opinions of the expert group.

Once completed, it will be submitted to the Development and Reform Commission in the autonomous region for approval.
