China will work to build more cities into international consumption centers, according to a guideline issued by the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) and other 13 departments.
In five years, cities with potential can work to grow into international consumption centers, and become engines to help upgrade the industrial structure and boost the economic growth of the country, according to the guideline.
To this end, a key task is to attract high-quality consumption resources and increase the supply of high-quality goods and services, according to the guideline.
Another task is to build new forms of consumer business circles with strong international influence, promote the construction of smart business circles and accelerate the upgrading of commercial streets, and focus on the renovation and upgrading of pedestrian streets.
Also, more efforts will be made to boost integrated and innovative consumption, including the transformation of physical commerce, according to the guideline.
