A natural gas production project in Otog Banner, Ordos was recently approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. 

The project, which drew 24.4 billion yuan ($3.44 billion) in investment, is able to produce 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas every year through processing coal.

According to local officials, the project will provide 1,500 jobs and pay 220 million yuan in taxes every year. 

In order to reduce pollution and avoid environmental damage, the local government has set up stations to monitor the air quality around the station. 

The Inner Mongolia Environment Monitoring Center will also monitor the project to ensure that any pollution-related incident is detected as soon as possible.
