Juungar Banner in Ordos was picked as one of the most beautiful counties in China, according to a list released at a May 18 news conference during the 15th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair.

Officials said that a candidate was chosen by the judging panel based on three indicators:- the number of scenic spots, its overall ecological environment as well as its cultural environment.

Organizers said the popularity and reputation of a county was also taken into consideration when the judging panel made up its final list.

Apart from Juungar Banner, other places in Inner Mongolia autonomous region – including  Xilinhot and Arxan cities, Ningcheng and Qingshui counties, and Manzhouli city -- also appeared on the list.
