The 10th Ordos Tourism Hotel Service Skills Competition opened at the Howard Johnson Parkview Plaza Erdos in Dongsheng district, in Ordos, on May 9. 

The event was organized by the Ordos tourism authorities, the Ordos office of the spiritual civilization development committee, the Ordos Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, the Ordos Federation of Trade Unions, the Ordos committee for the Communist Youth League of China and the Ordos Women’s Federation. 

Xie Yongfeng, deputy director of the Ordos tourism authorities, delivered opening remarks, in which she said that the service offered by the staff members of an Ordos hotel mirrored the city’s exacting tourism service standards. 

She stated that the goal of the competition was to select role models from the city’s hotel services industry and motivate other staff members to learn from them. 

The organizing committee invited five experts in hotel services to be judges. 

The event lasted for two days and involved 69 contestants from 29 teams.

The participants were judged by their performance in different categories of the contests, including dish arrangements on a table, an English-speaking contest and a bed-making contest. 

The participants were also judged on their dress codes.
