Two boxers from the city of Ordos in Inner Mongolia autonomous region took two gold medals at the 2019 Men’s and Women’s Elite Championships, which started on April 16 and ended on April 27 in Thailand.

The event – held at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok -- saw 19 athletes from the Chinese national team participating, three female boxers of whom were from Inner Mongolia, and two of them hailed from Ordos.

Officials said that the three Inner Mongolia boxers all won gold medals at the championship.

Ordos athlete Li Qian won the middleweight (75kg) crown, and the other Ordos fighter Dou Dan secured the gold medal in the light welterweight (64kg) class.

The event marked another win for the two Ordos boxers, in the wake of success at the 2018 World Boxing Championships.

In December 2018, Li Qian was crowned as the Best Asian Women's Elite Boxer in 2018 in the 75 kg weight class by the Asian Boxing Federation.
