Located in Uxin Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the Xarusgol Tourism Area consists of two parts – the Xarusgol Civilization site (known as the Ordos Man site) and the Batuwan scenic area.
The Xarusgol Civilization natural geological museum sits on the location of the discovery of human remains from the Palaeolithic Age, which dates from 2.5 millions years ago to 9,600 BCE. The site is also home to the largest desert valley in Asia.
Batuwan scenic area features a 230-square-kilometer reservoir, which boasts one of the world’s purest water supplies, the reservoir mostly being sourced from a desert spring.
Xarusgol Tourist Area was selected as national 4A-grade scenic spot in 2013.
