Jungar Temple sits in the Jungar Banner, also known as Xizhao Temple. First built during the Ming Dynasty in 1622, it is one of the largest completed lama temples of the Yellow Hats that exists in Ordos to date. Through expansions in the Ming and Qing dynasties as well as during 1912-1949, the temple now has over 30 religious facilities, such as the Four Heavenly Kings Temple, scripture halls and Buddhist halls. It is a complex temple integrating Mongolian, Tibetan and Han architectural styles. With many relics and murals, the temple is a key cultural relic unit protected at autonomous region level.
