UNCCD COP13 attendees take a sip of juice made of desert-friendly plant sea buckthorn.
The Ordos Declaration, which includes three new proposals related to drought, participation of women and youth, and restoration and reconstruction of degraded ecosystems, was also made on Sep 15.
The attendees agreed that the declaration fully embodies the international community’s consensus and innovations on desertification control, and reflects the strong determination of all parties to achieve the goal of "Land Degradation Neutrality".
It encourages the parties to take more pragmatic actions and play an important role in promoting the implementation of the Convention and leading global desertification control.
Besides a youth initiative on global desertification prevention and control, the conference also released a declaration at a business forum on sustainable land management, and passed a resolution on the participation of non-government organizations and parties’ private sectors which encourages public-private partnership.
