Of all the instruments, the Morin Khuur lent the most Mongolian flavor to the performance.

Morin Khuur, also called “horse-head stringed instrument”, is a symbol of the Mongolian people. The body of the instrument is made of wood and is about one meter long.

It is the best instrument for the Mongolian long tune — a historical Mongolian folk music dating back to the 7th century.

Khoomei singing, or “Hoomii”, was also performed during the concert.

It refers to the singer making two sounds across six octaves to simulate the sounds of pouring waterfalls and winds on the grasslands.

It has been listed among the world intangible cultural heritages.
