Senior Chinese legislator visits Tajikistan

Upon the invitation of the National Assembly of Tajikistan, Zhang Qingwei, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), led a delegation to Tajikistan from Dec 14 to 16, during which he met with Chairman of the Tajik National Assembly Rustam Emomali, Chairman of the Tajik Assembly of Representatives Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda, and Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda.

Noting that China and Tajikistan are comprehensive strategic partners with a shared future, Zhang said that under the leadership of the two heads of state, China-Tajikistan relations have seen constant development and upgrading, with fruitful cooperation across various fields.

China's NPC is ready to work with the Tajik Parliament to effectively implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of both countries, enhance multi-level exchanges and cooperation in various fields and push for new results in collaboration between the legislative bodies, so as to contribute to the economic and social development of the two countries, he said.

He also briefed the Tajik side on the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China's economic and social development, as well as its whole-process people's democracy.

The Tajik side spoke highly of the high level and particularity of bilateral relations, and expressed admiration for China's developmental achievements. They said they are willing to closely cooperate with Chinese government and legislative body, and actively expand collaboration in the fields of economy, trade and culture, to boost the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
