After listening to reports from law enforcement departments, he said that the Special Equipment Safety Law is a comprehensive law that takes into account both development and safety. Enforcement inspection of the law is of great significance to coordinating industrial development and safety, energy conservation and environmental protection, and building a peaceful China, he said. It also contributes to the advancement of new industrialization, the building of the nation into a leading manufacturer of high quality products, and high-quality development, he added.

Stressing the principle of putting people and their lives first, Xiao called for further efforts to enhance law-based inspections. He said the inspection team should adhere to a problem-oriented approach, focus on major issues affecting the enforcement of the law, prominent problems restricting the development of the industry, and key points concerning equipment safety, so as to push forward the effective and comprehensive implementation of the law.

Zhang Qingwei and Losang Jamcan, vice-chairpersons of the Standing Committee of the NPC, also attended the meeting.
