CONAKRY -- Senior legislator Wu Weihua said China attaches great importance to the development of bilateral ties with Guinea and hopes to start a new chapter in friendship.

Wu, vice chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, said China will uphold the principles of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith and the approach of pursuing the greater good and shared interests.

He called for seizing the opportunities of jointly building the Belt and Road and implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in September last year to promote the building of a closer community of shared future between China and Guinea, and a closer community of shared future between China and Africa.

During his three-day visit which concluded Monday, Wu met with Guinean President Alpha Conde and prime minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, and held talks with Claude Kory Kondiano, speaker of the National Assembly.

Guinea spoke highly of the achievements of cooperation made since the establishment of Guinea-China diplomatic ties in 1959, expressing gratitude for the support and assistance provided by China to its economic and social development.

Guinea appreciated China's commitment to an independent foreign policy of peace, praising China for setting an example to African countries in exploring a development path that is in line with national conditions.

Guinea reiterated its firm support to China in international affairs and on issues concerning China's core interests.
