BEIJING -- Senior legislator Wan Exiang Thursday called on compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to make joint efforts to work for the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and advance the process toward the peaceful reunification of China.
People across the Strait and overseas Chinese should work together for greater national interests and follow the tide of history, said Wan, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
He made the remarks at a Lunar New Year reception held in Beijing by the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK), one of the eight non-Communist political parties on the Chinese mainland.
Wan, also chairman of the RCCK Central Committee, said the RCCK will continue to contribute to the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and the realization of the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
