At the fifth session of the 13th National People's Congress held on Sunday, Dai Xiuying, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, suggested that the government should pay more attention to community-based health care services, such as upgrading fever clinics, improving diagnosis and treatment equipment, and ensuring adequate drug supply.

According to Dai, it is also necessary to increase reimbursement from medical insurance funds so that community-based nursery care facilities can use a wider range of medicines. Residents should be able to get the same quality of treatment in community outpatient clinics as in hospitals.

She noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has once again highlighted the important role of community-based nursery care facilities. Community-based medical professionals and workers are able to detect, isolate, report and transfer patients or suspected patients as soon as possible, and thus help to control the spread of the pandemic.
