In recent years, by relying on electric power and favorable policies, Ningxia has made great efforts to develop new materials focusing on photovoltaic and lithium-ion battery materials, high performance fibers and new chemical materials. Its industrial clusters have continuously expanded by introducing leading enterprises.
Now, Ningxia has the largest tantalum and niobium production enterprises and beryllium material research and production base in China, and has gathered the leading R&D producers of industrial sapphire crystal, large-size electronic silicon wafers, elastane and aramid fiber, forming new material clusters that produce photovoltaic and lithium-ion batteries, rare metal materials, carbon-based materials, aluminum-based materials, and coal-derived new chemical materials.
By 2025, the new materials industry is expected to have an annual output value of over 100 billion yuan (about $15.8 billion), and it will be advanced as a key industry in facilitating the replacement of old growth and high-quality development of manufacturing.
