Location: Fenghua district, located in southern Ningbo, is 15 kilometers from the Ningbo Lishe International Airport and 50 kilometers from Beilun Port.
The district is home to the shrine of Hotei (Maitreya), who was born and achieved parinirvana in the district during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (AD 907-960) period. It is also the hometown of Chiang Kai-Shek, the former Kuomintang (KMT) leader.

Official data shows that Fenghua's gross domestic product (GDP) rose 6.5 percent year-on-year to 64.525 billion yuan in 2019.
The district's fiscal revenue totaled 9.014 billion yuan, while retail sales of consumer goods increased by 8.1 percent to 19.01 billion yuan.
The per capita disposable income among urban residents was 56,551 yuan, up 7.1 percent year-on-year, while the figure for rural residents was 33,185 yuan, a rise of 8.5 percent.
In 2019, Fenghua welcomed more than 28 million visitors, generating 26.808 billion yuan in tourism revenue, up 17 percent and 24.7 percent, respectively.
A modern industrial system dominated by sectors such as shipbuilding, automobiles, motorcycles, spare parts, pneumatic components, kitchen and household appliances, electronic communications, and clothing and apparel has taken shape in the district.

Fenghua governs eight sub-districts and four towns – Jinping sub-street, Yuelin sub-street, Jiangkou sub-street, Xiwu sub-street, Xiaowangmiao sub-street, Fangqiao sub-street, Chunhu sub-street, Shangtian sub-street, Xikou town, Qiuchun Town, Dayan town, and Songao town.
Honors:
In October 2019, the district ranked 71st among the top 100 districts in China in terms of comprehensive economic strength.
That same month, it was rated among the top 100 counties in the nation in terms of green development.
Other accolades the district has received in recent years include the title of National Sanitary City and Excellent Chinese Tourism City.
