NWPU inaugurates research institute in Ningbo
The research institute of Northwestern Polytechnical University in Ningbo was inaugurated on Sept 29.
The research institute will include a high-tech industrial park and five research centers. The park will focus on incubating flexible electronic materials and unmanned helicopters, while the five centers on developing navigation, sensors, satellite and big data.
Zheng Shanjie, Party chief of Ningbo, said at the plate-unveiling ceremony that Ningbo is a manufacturing hub and a significant growth driver behind the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
The research unit established by NWPU, a prestigious university with strong innovation capabilities, is expected to help the city accumulate more high-profile talents and power the city's drive to construct a dozen industrial clusters, he continued.
He also expressed hope that Ningbo and NWPU can further cement cooperation in manufacturing and digital economy so as to bolster development on a number of key technologies.
Wang Jingsong, headmaster of NWPU, said that Ningbo has an advantageous geographical location, open business climate and sound industrial platform, adding that the university will aid in the city's high-quality development.
