A review meeting on the feasibility of a railway project connecting Nantong and Suzhou in Jiangsu province and Jiaxing and Ningbo in Zhejiang province was recently held in Beijing, where a general technical program for the project was approved.
This marks significant progress in the construction of the railway.
The railway will run 338 kilometers, with a target speed of 350km/h.
Travel time between the four cities will be greatly shortened. Passengers from Ningbo will reach Suzhou or Shanghai within one hour, and Beijing in five hours.
The railway will play a key role in the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region, and enhance Ningbo's involvement in that process, thus promoting the economic development of the city and Zhejiang province as a whole.
