Ningbo in Zhejiang province is looking to build upon its high-tech industrial development with the 2018 Ningbo Talents, Science and Technology Week, which opened at the city's Pan Pacific Hotel on Sept 20.

The annual affair showcases the best of Ningbo's technological industries and provides matchmaking opportunities for top talents in related fields who are looking to work in Ningbo.

This year's event, which runs until Sept 27, features 16 activities, including high-tech exhibitions and job fairs, forums on industrial development and talent building, as well as innovation and startup contests.

Over 20,000 people are expected to attend the event over the course of the week, which this year is being held for the thirteenth time.

A series of measures of building a sound talent ecosystem in the city, or "1+X" measures, were announced at the opening ceremony, and eight of the most outstanding talents in Ningbo were recognized and honored with awards, as well as 146 prominent individuals and teams from home and abroad that have been newly selected into the city's talent recruitment plan, or "3315 Plan".

The opening ceremony also witnessed the signing of eight key projects among local authorities, research institutes, universities and companies for jointly establishing high-tech development platforms.
