The 2018 Zhejiang-Taiwan Cooperation Week Ningbo Stop was launched in the city on Sept 13, with nearly 300 guests from government departments and industries across the Straits invited to discuss cooperation. 

This is the third consecutive year for Ningbo to organize the Zhejiang-Taiwan Cooperation Week activities, with the purpose of promoting cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation, and achieving mutual benefits for both Taiwan and Ningbo. 

This year's Ningbo Stop features a matchmaking conference for cross-Straits microelectronic industries, an awarding ceremony of cross-Straits youth employment and startup bases, as well as 13 themed events and inspection tours.

Notably, a total of 12 major Taiwan-funded projects worth $1.05 billion were signed during the Cooperation Week, covering multiple fields such as the integrated circuit, precision machinery, finance and insurance, new materials and youth startup.

Wu Boxiong, former president of the Chinese Nationalist Party, expressed his optimistic view of Ningbo's future development.

"It is a far-sighted decision for Taiwan-funded companies to invest in Ningbo, because the city has been developing quite rapidly over the years and enjoys a sound future prospect," said Wu in his speech at the launching ceremony of Ningbo Stop. 

Zheng Shanjie, Party chief of Ningbo, also stated the city's advantages in microelectronic industries for having a solid industrial basis, a sound business climate and a strong innovation potential. 

"We hope cross-Straits companies and research institutes will conduct more exchanges via this opportunity, and develop more major projects in the microelectronic industry, to share the benefits of digital economy," said Zheng.

Zheng added that Ningbo conducted trade worth 40.2 billion yuan ($5.87 billion) to Taiwan last year, and approved over 2,600 Taiwan-funded projects worth $7.2 billion during the period, ranking first in the whole province in terms of the amount of Taiwan funds introduced.
