The awarding ceremony of 23 newly established bases and demonstration sites for cross-Straits youth to secure employment and start businesses was held in Ningbo on Sept 12. 

The city's Startup Park for College Students in Yinzhou district is one of the bases, and is the second one of its kind established in Ningbo to date, after the Ningbo Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park, which was approved in 2016.

The park in Yinzhou district has been vigorously promoting exchanges and cooperation between cross-Straits young people on employment and business startup since 2016, according to an official at the park, adding that 13 Taiwan companies have settled in the park, covering culture, tourism, high-tech, electronics and other fields. 

Altogether 76 such bases and demonstration sites have so far been established in 20 provinces and municipalities in China, providing jobs and startup opportunities for over 10,000 young people in Taiwan.

"We aim to provide policy support and create a favorable climate for Taiwan youth to work and start businesses in the Chinese mainland via the platform of these bases and demonstration sites," said Liu Jieyi, head of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council PRC. 

"We hope the bases and the demonstration sites will focus on the needs of Taiwan youth in securing jobs and starting businesses, to promote the common development of cross-Straits young people as well as cross-Straits cooperation in all aspects," Liu added. 

Zheng Shanjie, Party chief of Ningbo, stated his commitment to learn from neighboring provinces and enhance the city's two bases in serving and helping Taiwan youth.
