Ningbo, a coastal city in Zhejiang province, will play the role of a leader in and a main contributor to the construction of the Zhejiang Greater Bay Area, an economic and industrial belt centered around Hangzhou Bay, according to officials at a provincial conference on July 30.

Officials also said that the city would pledge to assume more responsibilities and spare no efforts to build the bay area.

Since the beginning of 2018, Ningbo has made a comprehensive plan and conceived a group of strategic platforms for the Greater Bay Area. A total of 14 projects with an investment of 94.8 billion yuan ($13.9 billion) have been introduced so far this year. Moreover, Ningbo has put together a group of officials to be responsible for the management of the investment and finance in the area.

In the future, the city will speed up its efforts in building quality platforms, cultivating high-end industries and gathering factors of production to develop itself into a strategic hub, a center and a modernized area in the Zhejiang Greater Bay Area.
