The Ningbo Supply Chain Innovation Institute recently began construction of its new campus in Meishan island, east of Ningbo city, according to local media.
With an investment of 27 million yuan ($4.27 million), the campus will house teaching buildings, a lecture hall, a library, a research center, a student center, and an administration building on 1,278 square meters.
The project, expected to be completed in the first half of 2019, will cultivate high-profile global supply chain management talents and explore new ways of fostering international talents.
The Ningbo Supply Chain Innovation Institute, the only one of its kind in China, was established by the Ningbo government and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2016.
Up to now, MIT has established other five centers for its Global Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence (SCALE) Network, including four logistics centers in the US, Spain, Columbia and Luxembourg and one supply chain innovation center in Malaysia.
