The city of Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province is going to hold the First China (Ningbo) Global Experts Summit on March 19-21, according to a news conference on March 12.

The event aims to display the local development to the world, attracting overseas professionals to Ningbo and promoting cooperation along the Belt and Road Initiative.

More than 370 top experts from 20 countries including the US, Russia, Germany and Italy, as well as heads of financing and venture capital institutions are expected to attend the summit and hold discussions on various topics.

A total of 190 high-tech projects from a variety of industries such as aerospace, integrated circuit and new materials will seek cooperation and financial support through roadshows and matchmaking sessions at the summit.

Gu Liqun, deputy secretary general of Ningbo, briefed at the news conference that the guests invited to the summit are all top professionals from the world's most advanced sectors. They will take field investigations to enterprises and industrial parks in Ningbo.

Gu explained that the summit will help Ningbo speed up the construction of a comprehensive pilot zone for the development of Belt and Road Initiative and the building of a new opening-up pattern.

Sun Xiufang, deputy governor of Beilun district, where the summit will be held, said the district will work hard to organize the event, in an effort to build an exchange platform and help Ningbo become a city that can be rich in human resources.

In recent years, Ningbo has figured out quite a few approaches for talent attraction in a bid to deal with the shortage of professionals. In 2015, Beilun district established China's first national talent attraction demonstration zone. By integrating resources and looking into the market needs, the district has successfully introduced nearly 800 overseas engineers to permanently reside in the city.

Top overseas talents now play a significant role in boosting the international exchanges on economy, technologies and culture between Ningbo and foreign countries. They bring new vitality to local enterprises.
