Celadon from the Yue Kiln, also known as the mother of celadon, is the most famous set of celadon kilns in ancient China. It dates back to the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25~220) and withered away in the late Northern Song Dynasty (AD 960~1127). Yue Kiln, the earliest kiln in China, has the longest history and the widest impact. The regular patterns of the art form are plants, birds, rivers, and people. Its concise and smooth lines and the glossy crystal-green glazes just make the wares appear like a peaceful lake.

Shanglin Lake in Cixi county, Ningbo city, the birthplace of Celadon from the Yue Kiln, boasts over 100 kilns within an area of about 20 kilometers.
