Knifefish from the Yangtze River

The bodies of knifefish in the Yangtze River are long and flat. The fish got its name because it is shaped like a sharp knife. It is one of the top three delicacies in the Yangtze River, together with hilsa herring and globefish.

Knifefish live in the shallows near the mouth of the Yangtze in eastern China and spawn upstream every spring and summer. The Yangtze, East China Sea and Huanghai Sea meet at Yuantuojiao Resort, and the brackish water there is their best habitat.
