The Marshall Islands-registered LNG tanker Lena River, loaded with 65,800 metric tons of liquefied natural gas, berthed on July 12 at the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal at Yangkou Port, located in Rudong county, administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province.

This marked the point where the total LNG received by the Tongzhou Bay port area has reached 55.06 million tons to date.

The Tongzhou Bay port area, a new outlet to the sea in Jiangsu province, has built and now operates two LNG terminals: namely the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal at Yangkou Port and the LNG distribution and transfer terminal of Guanghui Energy in the Lyusi Port area in Qidong, a county-level city administered by Nantong.

Since its official start of operations on May 24, 2011, the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Terminal has received and offloaded 547 LNG vessels, transporting a total 107.13 million cubic meters of LNG.

The Guanghui Energy LNG terminal received its first LNG tanker on June 4, 2017 and has since received 140 vessels and unloaded 16.67 million cu m of LNG.

The two terminals are widely deemed to be of great importance to optimizing the energy structure of the Yangtze River Delta region.
