NETDA medical, health industrial park attracts top companies

A delegation of Party members from the Jiangsu Drug Administration recently visited the Medical and Health Industrial Park of the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area, or NETDA – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – according to local media reports on Oct 28.

Wang Wei, deputy director of the NETDA management committee, told a meeting with the visitors that the park had deliberately set the bar high for businesses to qualify to be resident there. Wang said the zone gave priority to developing projects with big potential in terms of technology and investment – to promote the high-quality agglomeration of top local and international companies, including German pharma giant Merck Group and Siegfried (Nantong) Pharmaceutical Co Ltd.  

In addition, the park sees the protection and improvement of the environment as an important part of its planning and construction. It prohibits projects with backward technology and serious pollution issues from entering the park.

According to a macro background analysis of the pharmaceuticals and health industry in China – and specifically in Jiangsu province – the park is positioned as an important pharma and health industry manufacturing hub and a sci-tech achievement industrialization base in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Plans are for the park to push harder to achieve its main targets and strive to foster one or two local enterprises with an annual output value of over 10 billion yuan ($1.56 billion), three to five enterprises with an annual output value of 5 to 10 billion yuan, as well as three to five newly listed enterprises.  

Moreover, it is expected to become one of the top 50 biomedical industrial parks in China.
