The 2021 China Nantong International High-end Textile Industry Expo kicked off on May 18 at the Nantong International Convention and Exhibition Center – located in Nantong city in East China's East Jiangsu province – where 18 projects worth several billions of dollars were inked.

Nearly 1,000 stands were set up for the ongoing show in exhibition halls A and B, covering an area of 20,000 square meters. They are aiming to fully demonstrate the advantages and characteristics of the textiles industry in Nantong. The on-site exhibition, which runs to May 20 is running in conjunction with an online one to attract more attention.

Of the deals signed at the event, 12 are industrial projects involving a total investment of 22.6 billion yuan ($3.51 billion) – covering multiple fields such as fiber materials, textiles, printing and fabric dyeing. Additionally, there are six procurement contracts valued at over 800 million yuan.

Last year, Nantong built the Jiangsu Nantong International Home Textile Industrial Park with the overall goal of developing the "four centers and one new city" concept proposed for its long-term development. Inspired by that goal, it is understood that Nantong will strive to construct an innovative and creative design center that can lead global trends, on top of the part in the plan it is playing.

It is expected that these projects will be helpful in achieving the goals, thereby further optimizing Nantong's textiles industry structure and improving its core strengths.

Recently, the Nantong municipal government negotiated with the China Home Textile Industry Association on the establishment of a Chinese bedding trends research and development base in the Nantong International Home Textile Industrial Park.

The aim is to enhance the independent innovation capabilities of Nantong's home textiles sector, so it can better support the national industry.
