Medical equipment company in Chongchuan makes strides in innovation
The puncture surgical navigation device developed by Accumed Technology Co Ltd in the Chongchuan Economic Development Zone, Nantong, Jiangsu province was published for public notification by the Jiangsu Provincial Medical Security Bureau on Aug 15, signaling its imminent entry into the Jiangsu market.
The device is a pioneering creation in China, enabling precise positioning for the biopsy of pulmonary nodules and early minimally invasive intervention.
Gu Lixu, the founder of the company as well as the vice-dean of the Institute of Medical Robotics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, led a team in 2003 to develop medical equipment. To secure stable investment, the company established an industrial partnership with Chongchuan district. The partnership requires that Chongchuan provides an industrial cooperation fund to support research and development carried out by the team at the Shanghai base, while the team must establish a production site within Chongchuan.
To attract the company, the CCEDZ provided space for a production base for the company and facilitated the application of its talent programs to assist the company in obtaining additional funding support through such initiatives.
Since starting operations in the zone in 2016, the enterprise has secured registration certificates for four products classified as national-level Class III domestic medical devices by the National Medical Product Administration, two of which are selling steadily.
In 2022, the company entered into a strategic partnership with Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University. This collaboration provided strong clinical support for the application of puncture surgical navigation devices and their ancillary inventions.
Both products were publicly displayed on platforms in Fujian, Shanghai, Henan, and other provinces and cities. They have been adopted in clinical settings in over 10 hospitals nationwide, benefiting nearly 10,000 patients.
