Consumption in Chongchuan rebounds in Q1
The wholesale, retail, hotel, and catering industries in Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, saw a strong increase in the first quarter of this year.
Official statistics show that the sales of the limited-scale retail and wholesale industries in the district in the first quarter exceeded 61 billion yuan ($8.83 billion), an increase of 14.2 percent year-on-year.
The wholesale industry achieved sales revenue of 50.937 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.0 percent, while the retail industry achieved sales revenue of 10.37 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.2 percent.
In the first three months, the revenue of the district's limited-scale accommodation and catering industry reached 496 million yuan, up 37.3 percent year-on-year, an increase of 81.5 percentage points from the same period in 2022.
The revenue of the accommodation industry was 140 million yuan, up 34.2 percent year-on-year, while the revenue of the catering industry was 356 million yuan, up 38.6 percent year-on-year.
The recently concluded May Day Holiday also helped grow the accommodation industry in Chongchuan.
For example, the twin and standard rooms at Nantong Hotel, a four-star hotel in the district, were almost fully booked.
From January to March, the hotel saw a significant increase in the number of business travelers, leisure travelers, and conference groups it received.
