The construction of Bayer Consumer Health's new supply center in the Qidong Economic and Development Zone has made significant progress, with the main structure and building enclosure now largely complete. Both the administrative building and factory have completed 70 percent of electromechanical installation.

The project, with a planned total investment of 750 million yuan ($104.45 million), is scheduled for completion in early 2026. According to project lead Qi Wenming, the facility will feature solid dosage factories, laboratories, warehousing, and public utility systems, aiming to set a new benchmark for biopharmaceutical enterprises in Qidong.

The new plant will adopt state-of-the-art intelligent manufacturing systems, equipped with advanced digital and automated technologies. In addition to inheriting the full production capacity of Bayer's existing facility, the center will introduce multiple international products, strengthening access to the Russian and European markets.

"Our connection with Qidong dates back to 2008, when we first chose the city for its strategic location and strong industrial base," Qi explained. "Over the years, the municipal government and development zone have consistently provided full support from site selection and preferential policies to streamlined approvals. That commitment is a key reason we've chosen Qidong again."

Bayer's partnership with Qidong has grown steadily over the past decade, with the company building a resilient supply chain and nurturing a skilled local workforce. In turn, Qidong's biopharmaceutical industry has been continually upgraded and refined through this collaboration.
