With 560,000 mu (37333 hectares) of rice in Hai'an ready for harvest, farmers are taking advantage of the clear weather to ensure a smooth collection. Behind the busy scenes of the harvest lies the power of technology, which is helping to increase farmers' yields.

At Wuyi Family Farm in Duntou town, 2,100 mu of premium rice is being cultivated this year. A test involving new planting techniques was conducted on the first 40 mu harvested, with half using pot-seedling cultivation and the other half blanket-seedling cultivation. Results showed that the pot-seedling technique produced 23 more kilograms of rice per mu compared to blanket seedlings.

"Pot-seedling transplantation causes less damage to the roots, allowing for quicker recovery and shortening the rice growing period. Overall growth is also stronger after transplanting," said Zhao Yuejun, director of the agricultural machinery technology promotion station.

This year, over 20 pot-seedling planting machines were introduced, covering approximately 4,000 mu. In addition, other new techniques like field trenching, rice sowing production lines, and centralized seedling cultivation centers were also introduced to farmers.

More than 300 large-scale farmers have been guided to use the Hai'an Digital Farm Manager mini-program, exploring digital and information-based methods for rice cultivation. With these advancements, this year promises to be another bumper harvest and a prosperous season for farmers.
