The Red Restaurant, a community cafeteria in Nanjiao community, Chongchuan district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, recently opened, providing a new dining option for nearby residents.

The community cafeteria is part of an initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Ministry of Civil Affairs to promote community development.

Huang Jilin, Party secretary of the Nanjiao community, said that for people with limited mobility, meals are delivered door-to-door by volunteers.

In addition, the cafeteria has set up dedicated WeChat groups, announcing the daily menu and providing personalized cooking services for residents in need.

The purpose of the community cafeteria is to serve the residents of the community, said Yan Xiangdong, the executive director of Jiangsu Baoshan Catering Management Co Ltd, the operating company of the first community cafeteria in the district.

Community cafeterias in Chongchuan provide discounts for special groups. They offer a 10 percent discount for martyrs' families, disabled soldiers, families who have lost their only child, people over 80 years old, and individuals with a disability level of grade II or above.

For delivery personnel, online car-hailing drivers, and other employment groups who have limited time to eat, a fast-track meal service in the community cafeterias has been established.

Chongchuan is currently home to three community cafeterias. Another 15 cafeterias will be established by the end of the year, covering all subdistricts in the district.
