Hai'an sees steady economic progress in Q1

Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, achieved steady economic growth in the first quarter of 2023.

The county's GDP in the first three months was 34.46 billion yuan ($5.38 billion), a 5.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.

The added value of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries reached 1.03 billion yuan, 19.07 billion yuan, and 14.36 billion yuan, respectively, representing year-on-year rises of 4.9 percent, 6.4 percent, and 4.5 percent.

During the same period, the taxable turnover of all industries in the county reached 51.03 billion yuan, while the service industry's taxable turnover reached 28.56 billion yuan, ranking first and second, respectively, in Nantong.

The county's fixed-asset investment in the first quarter was 26.89 billion yuan, an increase of 9.5 percent over last year.

Additionally, the county's foreign trade reached 5.06 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.1 percent.

The general public budget expenditure of the county for the first quarter was 2.30 billion yuan, showing a steady year-on-year increase of 9.44 percent.
