A vessel named Kalymnos from Australia, loaded with 72,000 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG), berthed at the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Station in Yangkou Port, Rudong county, Nantong on Nov 2. It was the first ship this year to help ensure the gas supply in the Yangtze River Delta or YRD region as winter approaches.

The PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Station is the largest station in the YRD region for natural gas supply and peak shaving. Boasting six LNG storage tanks with a total tank capacity of 1.08 million cubic meters, the station is able to continue gasifying and exporting 35 million cu m of natural gas per day for one month in peak load mode.

The natural gas can be transported as far as northern Zhejiang province, eastern Hubei province and southwestern Shandong province.

The peak season of natural gas supply will last from November this year to March 2022. To ensure adequate gas supply, the Jiangsu LNG station will strive to enhance the efficiency of receiving and unloading vessels to make sure that the tanks have enough massive storage.

The station is expected to receive and unload 20 more LNG vessels by the end of this year, with a total unloading volume of more than 1 million tons.
