Nantong First People's Hospital – in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – grew out of the original Nantong State Christian Hospital, which was built in 1907 and taken over by the government in 1951. The hospital was certified as a 3B-grade comprehensive hospital in 1994 and upgraded to a 3A-grade facility in 2008.
It occupies a site covering 45,000 square meters and its buildings have a total floor space of 120,000 sq m. There are 2,155 medical staff and 1,717 beds, 44 wards, 33 clinical disciplines, 21 medical and technical departments and 49 specialist clinics. The Nantong clinical laboratory center is also situated in the hospital.
The hospital has 15 provincial key clinical specialties – namely cardiology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, gynecology, medical imaging and interventional radiology, medical laboratory, obstetrics, pediatrics, endocrinology, pathology, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, emergency medicine, respiratory medicine, anesthesiology and burns (under development).
It also has 19 municipal key medical departments and a provincial innovative team in the department of orthopedics.
