A total of 1,200 sets of electric window shade equipment independently developed by Nantong Shenghao Heating and Ventilating Equipment Co, will be used in the recently commenced China-Russia nuclear project, local media outlets reported.

The project comprises units 7 and 8 of the Tianwan nuclear power plant in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province and units 3 and 4 of the Xudapu nuclear power plant in Huludao, Liaoning province. It is the the largest China-Russia nuclear energy cooperation project to date.

The Haimen-based company specializes in the design, manufacture, and installation of professional ventilation equipment.

The equipment to be used in the nuclear project was developed in 2016 and received provincial approval in 2018.

"The product is highly durable, rain-proof, airtight, and anti-condensation, which is great for thermal and nuclear power plants in extremely cold regions," said Zhang Yongqian, chairman of the company.

This is not the first time the company has won a bid in a nuclear project. Since 2010, its electric window shades have been used in several nuclear plants in China, including units 3 to 6 of the Tianwan nuclear power plant and the Fuqing nuclear power plant.

Its ventilating equipment holds a more than 90 percent market share in the domestic market.

Its products are also sold in Russia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, and have been used in thousands of projects involving electrolytic aluminum, steel, telecommunications, chemical engineering, and medicine.
