The Ding Jie Art Gallery – located in the Rudong County Cultural Center, in Rudong in East China's Jiangsu province – was officially opened to the public on April 17, marking a new site for people to enjoy art in the county.

Lu Weidong, head of the publicity department of the CPC Nantong committee, witnessed the opening of the art gallery and he praised Ding Jie and his work.

Ding Jie, born in Rudong in 1958, studied in Nanjing Normal University and the China Central Academy of Fine Arts. In the last few decades, he has made great achievements, becoming very influential in the Chinese art world.

To boost Rudong's cultural development, the county's Party committee and county government decided to establish the Ding Jie Art Gallery. Some 100 calligraphy and painting works created by Ding, as well as an image-text display depicting his career, are presented in the 1,200-square-meter hall on the first floor of the county's cultural center.

The gallery is expected to become a landmark for culture and tourism in Rudong, as well as play a positive role in enriching the cultural lives of locals.
