Due to the grim and complex epidemic situation, persuading employees to stay in the cities where they work for the 2021 Spring Festival holiday has become a hot topic as the celebration approaches.

In a bid to provide more care for migrant employees and minimize the epidemic impact caused by a large number of migrant employees returning to their homes during Spring Festival, Qutang town in Hai'an, a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, announced six Festival subsidies for such employees in Qutang enterprises on Jan 8.

The town stipulated that a subsidy of 1,000 yuan ($154.6) will be given to every migrant employee who recommends a new migrant one to an enterprise in Qutang town for employment who is from outside Hai'an, signs a labor contract with the company and pays social insurance for the first time in Hai'an for six months.

The town government shall bear the costs for the expenses incurred by the enterprises above designated scale with annual main business income exceeding 20 million yuan ($3.09 million) to pick up and drop off 15 or more employees from relatively concentrated source areas through chartered vehicles and inter-enterprise carpooling.

For key enterprises' employees from the areas where migrant employees are relatively concentrated, the town government will organize designated buses for pick-ups and drop offs.

After the Spring Festival holiday, from Feb 12 to 19, a subsidy of 200 yuan per person will be given to those migrant employees who return to the company for employment on their own from outside Nantong and inside Jiangsu, and 500 yuan per person for those returning from outside-Jiangsu. From Feb20 to 26, the subsidy will be halved.

Migrant employees who stay in Hai'an during the Spring Festival holiday will receive a living allowance of 500 yuan per person.
