Chongchuan social workers help native students from overseas

Updated: 2020-03-25

A 23-year-old college student surnamed Wang returned to his home in Chongchuan district, Nantong, Jiangsu province from the University of Auckland in New Zealand on March 10. He got through the quarantine period with the help of the local community and social workers.

Neighbors were concerned after hearing that the Wangs were returning from overseas, as the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been rapidly spreading around the world.

According to the latest documents on epidemic control issued by the Jiangsu Provincial Government on March 20, people arriving at the province from 24 countries, including South Korea, Italy, Japan, France, Spain, Australia, Malaysia, Greece, the United Kingdom, and more, must undergo 14 days of quarantine as a safety precaution.

Under the guidance of the local community, Wang was able to register his information and undergo quarantine at his home. Three workers from a local social group kept in frequent contact with Wang and his family, offering them comfort and timely assistance.

Wang was touched by the help he received from the local community.

To date, the social group has helped over 20 overseas students returning from Spain, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand, providing them with essential information about epidemic prevention and quarantine policies.
