Construction resumed on Nantong West Station in Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on Feb 25.

Nantong West Station is the departure station of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway and the largest newly built station along the railway. It covers an area of 16,000 square meters and has four platforms serving eight railway lines.

The station is currently being decorated and will heavily feature Nantong's signature blue calico. Mechanical and electrical devices are being installed as well.

According to Dong Xiaoqing, chief engineer of the project, work on the station was delayed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The construction team is now accelerating work by improving the construction plan, adjusting the arrangement of workers and urging the quick supply of materials.

To date, over 100 workers have returned to work on the station and more s are on their way. In order to prevent the spread of the virus, the managers held several video conferences to discuss the best way to resume construction and a dynamic supervision system has been put in place.

Protective gear has been distributed to workers, who have been asked to wear face masks while at work and to eat meals separately.
