The 2nd Qidong Exhibition for Agricultural and Sideline Products was held in Qidong, Nantong, Jiangsu province from Jan 4 to 6, showcasing more than 500 different types of agricultural  products from over 30 enterprises and cooperatives.

The exhibition aims to stimulate local demand, increase consumption, and provide residents with a platform for making special purchases for the upcoming Spring Festival.

"The exhibition is a great opportunity for us," said a manager of a planting cooperative, who brought several types of agricultural products to the exhibition, including vegetables, cereals, and sweet corns.

The organic rice and rice cakes of one local family farm attracted a lot of attention, as people could sample cooked rice at the booth.

Yin Rong, founder of a famous local brand of pear syrup that can relieve coughs, brought pear syrups, jam, and pear juice to the exhibition. He said he hopes to promote local pears and syrup outside Qidong in order to benefit local fruit growers.

"The agricultural products at the exhibition are both fresh and cheap, and I needn't to worry about their quality," said one local resident surnamed Yang.

In order to provide visitors with the highest-quality agricultural products, all goods had to pass inspection before being allowed at the exhibition.
