Chongchuan hosts intl e-sports invitational tournament

The Nantong (Chongchuan) Silk Road International E-Sports Invitational Tournament (NSET) was held in Chongchuan district, Nantong from Dec 27 to 29.

The tournament, a large international e-sports event, was participated in by over 100 people divided into 20 teams from countries along the Silk Road, including Russia, Malaysia, Thailand, Ukraine, Japan, South Korea, and more.

The event was launched by the SportAccord Asia-Pacific Headquarters and hosted by the Chongchuan district bureau of education and sports. The district government hopes to host the event regularly in order to promote e-sports among young people.

Ma Guangwen, chairman of the SportAccord Asia-Pacific Headquarters, said that the organization will offer its full support to Chongchuan district in the development of its e-sports industry and the integration of e-sports with other local industries.

Qian Suomei, district mayor of Chongchuan, said that the district is currently trying to use the event to promote a new economic model for the 5G era and expressed hope that more companies would be attracted to Nantong in order to make the city more suited for hosting international e-sports events.

The tournament consisted of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) and League of Legends competitions. Chinese teams swept the top 3 for CS: GO, while two Chinese teams and one Russian team took the top 3 spots for League of Legends.
