A promotional fair for rural roads and an award ceremony for a rural road photography competition were held in Tongzhou district, Nantong, Jiangsu province on Dec 7.

The competition was organized by the district's bureau of transportation and the Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

A total of 20 photographs showcasing the beauty of Tongzhou's rural roads and the ingenuity of the respective photographers received awards at the ceremony.

The district currently has more than 2,870 kilometers of rural roads. This includes around 300 km of county roads, 785 km of township roads, and 1,785 km of village roads. It also has 172 bridges connecting county roads and 1,054 bridges connecting township roads.

Public transportation and logistics services are available to residents in all villages throughout the district.

Tongzhou has also integrated rural roads with traditional culture. A growing number of visitors now drive cars or ride bicycles along the district's rural roads to appreciate the area's culture and natural landscapes.

In November, rural roads in Tongzhou district were honored for "excellence" and the district was named a demonstration province for rural roads.
