A new fire station was opened in the Wushui commercial area of Gangzha district in Nantong, on Dec 24.

In recent years, the increasing number of commercial and residential buildings has put extra pressure on fire services and the new station is designed to help relieve the burden on current services.

Local authorities have shown their support for the new station by enacting additional fire safety regulations to improve awareness throughout the district. 

The new station will primarily conduct firefighting and rescue operations, promote fire safety, carry out fire prevention patrols and provide basic medical services, with the fire brigade of Gangzha district acting as a supervisory body, Yongxing Health Service Center as a medical rescue unit, and the smaller fire stations as members. 

It is hoped that the new set up will lead to increased efficiency and better fire awareness among members of the public.
