The Hai'an flower drum has appeared on the stages of the Olympic Games and the World Expo, and a group of outstanding talents, including Zhong Man, the world fencing champion, have represented Hai'an around the world.

Hai'an has evolved into a transportation hub in eastern coastal regions. A crisscross communication network has been arranged in the city, including two expressways (G15 and S28), three national highways (G204, G328 and G228), four provincial highways (S353, S226, S403 and S430), three railways (Xinyi-Changxing, Nanjing-Qidong and Hai'an-Yangkougang) and two high-grade fairways (Lianshen and Xintongyang). There are three deep-water ports (Yangkou, Dafeng and Nantong) distributed within a one-hour drive and eight airports (Shanghai-Hongqiao International, Shanghai Pudong International, Nanjing Lukou International, Wuxi Shuofang International, Changzhou Benniu International, Yancheng Nanyang International, Nantong Xingdong International and Yangzhou Taizhou International) within a two-hour drive.

Hai'an, as a transportation junction, has entered the bullet train era to speed up the incorporation of national coastal railway arteries. It will also become a vital node city on the north side of the Yangtze River Delta as the Nanjing-Qidong Railway double-track electrification project will soon be fully open to traffic and the capacity expansion and revamping projects of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway, the Yancheng-Nantong Passenger Dedicated Line and the Xinyi-Changxing Railway have been accelerated.
