The Shanghai branch of Kingsemi Co Ltd – a national high-tech company started by the Shenyang Institute of Automation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences – on Aug 5 started construction of a plant in the Lin-gang Special Area in East China's Shanghai city.

Kingsemi Co Ltd is based in Shenyang city, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province. It specializes in the research and development, production, sales and service of semiconductors fabrication equipment.

Kingsemi Shanghai will focus on the R&D and manufacturing of gluing and developing equipment for the lithography process and chemicals cleaning equipment in the integrated circuits or IC industry.

The plant will be on a 45 mu (30,000 square meters) site with a planned total construction area of 54,000 sq m.

The main part of the project which started construction is expected to offer international advanced semiconductors equipment R&D, testing and services.

To date, Lin-gang has gathered more than 190 IC enterprises, involving combined investment of more than 220 billion yuan ($32.55 billion).
